Skegness Butlins Fairground Apartments Review: are they worth the extra cost?

When it comes to planning a family staycation, finding the perfect accommodation can be a daunting task. You want somewhere that has plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, but also offers a stress-free atmosphere for the adults. Look no further than Butlins Fairground Apartments at Skegness, the ultimate family vacation spot. Located in the heart of the famous Butlins fairground, these apartments offer a level of comfort but still at a reasonable price. With a variety of rides and attractions just steps away, your kids will never be bored. In this post we review the Butlins Fairground Apartments at Skegness

While the apartments are a little scruffy around the edges they are a good size and ideally located (as the name suggests) near to the fairground rides. In the main living space there’s a sofa that no one is going to get too comfortable on, a well equipped kitchenette and a small but clean dining table. Throughout the apartment the decoration is well thought out with quirky features like the funfair mirror and pictures of the fairground. Another great thing about the apartment is that the noise level is really low – ideal with young children. This is down to the distance from the main Skyline Pavillion and the layout of the apartments – the door next to yours leads to the flat above meaning you don’t directly share a wall with a neighbour.

There are two types of rooms at Butlins Skegness – silver and standard. Standard is the most basic of the two with the main difference being free essential wifi in the silver, along with slightly more modern decor. If you’re a larger group then silver is best as you can get one to four bedroom configurations.

What is the cost of a Butlins Fairground Apartment?

A mid-week break during term time with a silver room will set you back roughly  £100 per unit, whereas during the school holidays this hikes to roughly £700. This is without any kind of a dining plan or optional extras or activities you may want to book. This price can fluctuate depending on when you book and any current offers so I’d recommend checking current prices on the Butlins website

Final thoughts on Butlins Fairground Apartments

The main positive of a Fairground Apartment is the variety of rides and attractions just steps away. However, would I stay in a Butlins Fairground Apartment again? No, I wouldn’t although I would stick with an apartment rather than a room. I’m not so sure that the extra cost is worth it for slightly more modern decor – especially when the standard apartments are closer to the main Skyline Pavilion.
